The partnership will create a data-driven connected ecosystem offering global access to advanced surgical techniques and technologies
Proximie, one of the leading global health technology platforms digitizing operating rooms, and IRCAD North America (IRCAD NA), a world-class surgical training institute, announce a partnership to advance the future of surgical training.
Located at The Pearl – Atrium Health’s innovation district in Charlotte, North Carolina – IRCAD NA is a state-of-the-art surgical training and education center dedicated to advancing the skills of surgeons all over the world. IRCAD is a globally recognized surgical education, innovation and research institute with training centers in eight countries: Brazil, China, France, India, Lebanon, Rwanda, Taiwan, and now the United States.
Proximie’s cutting-edge platform will enable IRCAD NA to create a connected, data-driven ecosystem where surgical expertise, advanced techniques, innovation in robotics, augmented reality and artificial intelligence are accessible to surgeons worldwide.
Specifically, Proximie will support the transmission, storage and unification of surgical data and knowledge. By allowing surgeons to connect in real-time while capturing and unifying surgical data, Proximie will help IRCAD NA advance the quality, depth and pace of surgical training. Training will focus on minimally invasive techniques across general surgery, cardiovascular surgery, neurosurgery and orthopedic surgery. Simultaneously, Proximie will provide data-driven insight to medical developers and researchers. Captured in real-time from the OR, this data will help developers innovate more quickly and effectively and provide meaningful inputs for research, creating a long-term impact.
Dr. Nadine Hachach-Haram, Founder and CEO of Proximie, commented:
“We are proud to announce our long-term partnership with IRCAD North America, strengthening collaboration and opening up access to training in some of the world’s most advanced minimally invasive surgical techniques. The partnership reinforces the vital role Proximie plays in connecting operating rooms and shows how digital technology can help shape the future of surgical training and patient care.”
Dr. Dionisios Vrochides, executive director of IRCAD North America and professor of transplant surgery at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, said:
“Our partnership with Proximie is hugely valuable – their unique technology is foundational to our unparalleled education, training, and research capabilities, ensuring we can create a truly global impact at IRCAD North America. We look forward to working closely with Proximie over the long-term – meeting our shared goal of improving patient outcomes worldwide through education and telepresence.”
Dr. Rasu Shrestha, EVP & chief innovation and commercialization officer at Advocate Health and president of the Board at IRCAD North America, shared:
“At IRCAD North America, we are committed to accelerating healthcare innovation and transforming surgical education. Our partnership with Proximie is a leap forward in democratizing access to world-class surgical expertise, leveraging advanced digital platforms to connect, train, and inspire surgeons globally.”
IRCAD NA formally opened its doors on Sept. 19, 2025, with a Proximie-powered livestream of the ribbon cutting at the main reception. The institution will host dozens of courses each year, welcoming thousands of global surgeons and health care professionals for advanced training in the latest surgical techniques and technologies.
