On October 16 and 17, 2026, faculty and trainees from all over the world gathered at IRCAD North America in Charlotte, NC for the institute’s first orthopedic course. This inaugural training brought together luminaries in the field of wrist arthroscopy, from Dr. Terry Whipple and Dr. Christophe Mathoulin to course directors Dr. Youssra Marjoua and Dr. Steven Moran.

This course embodied the international network of IRCAD, with expert faculty from the US, France, Norway, Chile, Canada, Argentina, Germany, Brazil, Australia, Spain, Denmark teaching trainees from the US, Canada, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, and Chile.

Each day of the course offered two didactic sessions and two hands-on sessions in the lab. Trainees had a chance to learn side by side from faculty experts, with a 1:1 trainer to trainee ratio. Lectures covered topics such as arthroscopic techniques for common wrist conditions, including ganglia, synovitis, loose bodies, and radial styloid pathology. Then the group would move to the surgical ballroom for experiential education, using their new knowledge hands-on.

Trainees have returned to their home institutions with an enriched understanding of wrist arthroscopy techniques, enabling them to offer even safer, better care for their patients.
